We can answer this question, which requires different answers depending on the area you will use, in different ways. Let’s take a look at ceramic typesfirst. After reviewing the types and models, let’s look at which types can be used together and where.
Ceramic Types
- Masonry Tile
Masonry tile type ceramics, hardness 5. Ceramic types corresponding to the group. Group 5 ceramics are the most dense and heavy ceramic types used mostly in outdoor areas. In other words, if you are considering ceramic application for interior spaces, we do not recommend using this type of ceramic even alone, let alone in combination with other types.
- Porcelain Tile
Ceramic types, called porcelain tiles, are created using the powder compression method and have waterproof properties with their fine-grained structure. Porcelain tile ceramic models can be in different textures and colors. For example, while using a solid color porcelain tile on your kitchen walls, you can use the patterned shapes of the ceramic type called Terazzo on the floor.
- Quarry Tile
The ceramic structures we call quarry tiles are made of natural clay. They are mostly red, brown and gray in color. Quarry tiles are generally used for wall and floor coverings. Here, too, you can choose burgundy quarry tile, a dark color if you like, on the bathroom floor, while you can use light porcelain tiles on the walls.
- Terazzo
Terrazzo ceramic structures are structures produced by adding granite and marble chips into Portland cement and can be produced in all kinds of colors. Since it contains granite and marble, it is more suitable for floors and walls. It may even be suitable for bathroom floors and walls. In this sense, you can use terrazzo and quarry tiles as two different types in the same area.
- Mexican Tile
The last type of ceramic is the Mexican tile. These tiles are mostly handmade. In general, the colors of these ceramic materials appear as more than one color in a single pattern. For this reason, they can also be said to be tile patterns in our culture. If the tiles are to be used in a single area, we do not recommend a second type next to it. Because this can cause eye strain and limit the space. When we look at ceramic types in general, we can say that most types can be used with each other.
